MATASEMARANG.COM – Semarang City will host an international kite festival on August 23 and 24, 2025, at the POJ City complex. Thirteen countries will take part in this international event.
Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng said this event is part of a strategy to boost the tourism and creative industries in Semarang.
She also highlighted the importance of involving local creative industry participants in the event. The mayor asked the organizers to provide a space for showcasing products from Semarang.
“I hope participants from different countries, who are bringing large teams, will visit the Semarang booth. I promise the products displayed there will be carefully selected,” she said.
Agustina is confident that with the presence of thousands of visitors and participants from abroad, the festival will not only promote tourism but also have a direct impact on the local economy, especially for small enterprises.
“We hope Semarang will become an economic hub, and one way to achieve this is through tourism,” she added.
The festival is expected to bring participants from various regions in Indonesia, including Central Java, Yogyakarta, West Java, Jakarta, Bali, Kalimantan, and the Riau Islands.
In addition, 13 countries will take part, including India, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and Malaysia, making this event a global cultural gathering.
The international kite festival will also include a variety of activities such as an Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) exhibition, traditional arts performances, and professional kite demonstrations.
