MATASEMARANG.COM – The Semarang City Government is preparing a site for the construction of a Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School) in Rowosari Village, Tembalang District.
This facility shows the Semarang City Govt. supports for educational access for underprivileged communities.
Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti stated that she is carrying out construction after receiving official direction from Jakarta (the central government).
“The plan is still in Rowosari. The central government recommends that the Sekolah Rakyat building be constructed this year. Furthermore, preparations for filling out the registration system and other forms have been underway for a long time. The most important thing now is to get the building up,” she said.
The Mayor is currently awaiting an official letter from the central government regarding the technical steps, particularly regarding human resource preparation.
“We are awaiting a letter from the central government regarding the practical steps. Will the central government involve us in recruiting educators? Or will there be assistance, such as teachers, from the central government? These are still under discussion,” she said.
The construction of the Sekolah Rakyat is part of the Semarang City Government’s program to support access to free and inclusive education for children from underprivileged families. Especially for children who have not been accommodated by the formal education system.
Before the Sekolah Rakyat building in Rowosari was built, teaching and learning activities would be carried out in the Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BBPVP) building. ***
